"Yoga Fun" introduces children to yoga in a fun, playful, and safe way. Yoga teacher and mother Juliet Pegrum shows how children from the age of three can enjoy the benefits of many classic yoga poses, which promote flexibility, strength, concentration, good posture and self-confidence. All kids will love yoga's famous Animal Poses, from the cat and lion to the downward dog, and the chapter on Object Poses is great fun, too - do the teapot, be a boat, table or chair, or master that Lotus position. The Dynamic Poses are good for older children, helping them to build balance and strength, while Group Poses encourage more interaction, from two children making a wheelbarrow to a little group holding hands with toes together to create the blossoming Lotus pose. Also included are special chapters on breathing, music, visualization and relaxation, along with a workout section with sequences of poses for children of 3-6 and 7-11 years. There is also a vitalizing workout sequence to help kids expend some of that surplus energy, plus a workout for tranquility and relaxation. Illustrated throughout with more than 200 colour photographs, "Yoga Fun" is packed full of fun techniques they will love to learn.

A child's introduction to yoga, interlaced with stories, songs and quiet time. Written with the complete beginner in mind, the book is designed for parents to read along with their children. Older children can read by themselves using the step-by-step photographs as a guide.
Help to create peaceful children and a peaceful world with this book that teaches the universal wisdom of yoga philosophy using multicultural, interfaith stories to bring peace and character education to children and families. This book, for teachers and parents to share with children, has 26 teaching tales culled from the world's many faith traditions. It features such gems as "Mohammad and the Cat" (about kindness), "Brahma's Tears" (about unity), "Calming the Storm" (about courage), and "Conejito and the Wax Doll" (about anger management). Plus, there are many stories from African, Buddhist, Jewish, and Sufi traditions as well. This book also focuses on meditation and relaxation - for children to improve health and literacy - and features follow-up activities and the classic Storytime Yoga method of including yoga poses scripted with the stories.
Dozens of simple, yoga-based exercises tailored for daily classroom use fill this educator's resource. Each featured posture or breathing technique can be practiced in as few as three minutes, so that they can be inserted into the regular school day as needed or combined to create longer sequences for physical education classes, playgrounds, athletic/recreation centers, camps, and dance schools. The simple movement exercises develop concentration, improve motor skills, and boost strength, flexibility, and balance as they enhance relationships and inspire a joyful and effective learning process. Additionally, breathing exercises expand lung capacity and increase endurance as they energize and harmonize body and mind. By taking a few moments to stop between activities to lead students in these breathing and stretching exercises, teachers can inspire a calm, harmonious, and centered classroom.
